FEBRUARY 2010

As the PanicAttackRacing Team approaches it's first anniversary in the coldest month of the year we've included a photo reminder of the hottest race day of last summer. And we're on the countdown to Spring to begin testing and racing with our newest setup. Watch for more news about our plans for our sophomore year.

HALLOWEEN 2009

The Ghost Dragster
This weekend the PanicAttackRacing Dragster got filled with embalming fluids and laid to rest for the winter.
Next year will be the autopsy and resurrection with new parts and new spirit.
Meantime plans are in the works for the Gala Panic Attack Racing Team Year End Banquet. Watch for update in the next few weeks.

Last Pass of the Last Race of the First Season
The Panic Attack Racing Team ended their debut season under cloudy skies at Sanair. A turnout of four front engine dragsters demonstrated the growing interest in Nostalgia Cars.
We thank all the friends we've made in Quebec in the last months and look forward to a return for more competitive Super Pro Et racing next year. More photos can be seen on the DragRaceQubec website http://www.dragracequebec.com/ forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t= 4050

August 15 &16

8.7 ETs at 250km/hr
A full weekend with races at two tracks in two days at Sanair on Saturday afternoon and night and at Napierville Sunday. On both days in 100 degree temperatures the Panic Attack Dragster ran strong and set Best of Team record times against a strong field of modern Quebec competition. As the only Front Engine Dragster in competition the Panic Attack Dragster drew a lot of fond attention and advanced a few elimination rounds. Be sure to check out the attached Video of the Panic Attack Racecar making it's fastest run of 8.7seconds and 154mph under the lights at Sanair Saturday night http://www.youtube.com/watch

First time racing at night "under the lights".
First time winning third round of eliminations.
First time to 240 km/hr top speed.

June 20

The Panic Attack Race Team surprised everyone at Luskville Dragway on Saturday by winning in 1st Round Eliminations on their first ever Race day outing.

The Panic Attack Dragster launched on time, hooked up, went straight, and made a perfect run at one hundredth of a second over it's dial-in to take the win. The Panic Attack Dragster is a favourite old school nostalgia dragster competing without the benefit of any modern electronics in SuperPro Bracket Races against state-of-the-art competitors.

"Hooked Up - Goes Straight"
After a month long interruption the Panic Attack Dragster returned to the track for the second test day.
With the new tires the car launched well and by days end was starting to show it's future potential with some respectable times and speeds.
The new tow vehicle pulled the trailer effortlessly  and made an attractive and comfortable combination.
Once again a lot was learned about the racecar  setup and driving techniques: (our learning curve seems vertical in these first days running.)
A few changes to the Dragster and another test day next weekend and we should be developing a summer race schedule

MAY 2

The PanicAttack Dragster made it's first on track testing on a cloudy Saturday at Luskville Dragway.
This was a big learning day for the PanicAttack Team in characteristics of the Dragster, staging and dragstrip protocol, and trailer, tow vehicle  and support equipment needs. Next is a new Chev Crew Cab Dualie tow vehicle, new Slicks for the Dragster and more Luskville test and tune days.
The PanicAttack Team extends a special Thank You to the Luskville Track Manager/Promoter, Arnie Malcolm for his patience, his assistance, his solid advice, and the welcome he extended to us as the new guys. We appreciate  his help.

"With A Little Help From Our Friends"
Debut of the newly completed Panic Attack Race car Trailer.
The custom designed and custom built trailer is now on the road after a lengthy build process.
This hybrid aluminum and steel vehicle is truly unique and suits the car perfectly.
Actually, a lot of help from our many friends who gave their time, their skills, and their advice to complete this project. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who helped.
Next - a new matching tow vehicle is on the way.

MARCH 27

The Panic Attack Racing Team got a special mention with a photo in the "What's New" section of the "National Dragster" magazine this week. NHRA is the largest governing body of Drag Racing and "National Dragster" is their weekly publication with a worldwide circulation. For more information on the sport of Drag racing go to http://www.nhra.com/

Work continues this week on construction of the Panic Attack Race car Trailer.
Custom designed and built, it is inspired by (but not a copy of) the AA/FD Mr Ed Trailers of the '60s.

This was another mention in the Luskville Dragway Newsletter and beginning to wonder if we can live up to the PR being generated.
More pressure!

"2009 TO BE A VERY SPECIAL YEAR FOR THIS RACING TEAM: MARCH 06/09"

"Dennis Black is back from Frank Hawley's Driving School in Florida with his license in hand and ready to go racing. Here is another pic of what will be a very interesting car for this upcoming season. The following is an email we received just this past week:
"Jim Barry and Dennis Black from Arnprior, Ontario, Canada are returning to the Dragstrip after a 35 year absence  after buying an upgraded Nostalgia Front Engine Dragster powered by an alcohol injected SBC. Black and Barry will compete in Nostalgia and ET events at the NHRA sanctioned Luskville Dragway which is celebrating it's 40th anniversary this year. This return season is dedicated to the late Wes Barry who took them to their first race in 1969. "

First start up of the car since it came home. All went well –it started, it moved, and it made  a few very short test launches. A lot to learn about driving it –seems like it’s going to be a handful. Now work begins on the trailer. Photos show the car on a trailer test fit before the trailer enclosure goes on.

FEB 21

A preparation and planning day with the Panic Attack Dragster with Jim and Dennis and Rob Stark ; a key team member and assistant Crew Chief.

Rumsfield said this about Iraq but he could have said it about our start to drag racing this year--“There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don’t know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don’t know we don’t know.”

He was successful in earning an NHRA Competition license signed by Frank Hawley in the minimum required 6 runs with a best pass of 8.2 seconds at 161 Miles/Hour in the full 1/4 mile.

The Car is Home --at Jim Barry's Truck and Automotive Repair in Arnprior.
That's Jim on the left in the picture of the car being unloaded Friday night.
Everything is as it should be and if we could charge everybody that's coming to see it a dollar we'd have it paid off in no time.
Next step --racing school for Dennis
